Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez comes originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. She has two elder brothers and two younger brothers. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents had moved there in the 1980s due to the civil war in Sri Lanka. The schooling she completed was within Bahrain and she was awarded an Scholarship for at the University of Sydney. There she earned the Media and Communications degree. To further develop her passion for different cultures, languages and languages she enrolled in the Berlitz schools of languages in which she could master Spanish in addition to improving French and Arabic. The model is Mangalorean in her origins. Her ancestors come from the village of Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state in India. Prakash Padukone is her father and a former badminton star with international recognition. Her mother is a travel agent.
